Ableton Live 7 is a software based music sequencer that is used for composing and arranging, as well as precision mixing for DJ purposes. This piece of software will be used to put the instrumental loops created in Logic Pro together to create a more structured song, I will also use a midi controller to record effects throughout the song which will be used in different variations as the jingle and the archive sound clip.
This screenshot shows the basic layout of Ableton, the audio track shows where I will put the loops made from Logic Pro into Ableton and adjust them so they are in time with each other and are of a high quality. The bottom part of the screen shows the 'Operator' synthesiser which will be used to create lead and bass synth lines to add a melody to the song that will be used as an archive sound clip.Garageband is another music production programme that comes with a large library of copyright-free music loops, this is a more basic programme that allows users to instantly create music and edit clips in numerous ways.
I will be using Garageband as a post-production to edit and mix the sound clips of audio appropriately so they fit correctly and so continuity is present where needed. After doing so the levels of each track will be altered to optimise the overall sound of the show. To record the voices of the host and his guest I will be using the broadcasting computer and microphones that are currently used for the School Radio. The Synergy Broadcast Software will be used to record the voices of both the host and the guest and I will also alter the amplification of the clips so that they are not too distorted or too quiet. At the start of my radio a jingle will be played and the host will then introduce the radio show and will introduce the guest. The guest, who is a breakbeat DJ, will introduce his new song and the song will start playing. The song will start so that it is in time with the backing music that is present during the time in which the host and guest are talking. As the song starts to play a jingle will play. The jingles will be played at the start and after the introduction from the host to remind the audience of the name of the particular show they are listening to.
